FREE THERMAL IMAGING SOFTWARE TRIAL - PRODUCE INSTANT TI SURVEY REPORTS WITH JUST ONE CLICK!

ti-nov-1-14Hazardous Engineering Solutions magazine has teamed up with thermographic services specialist Ti Thermal Imaging Ltd to offer HES newsletter subscribers a free three-month trial of its new TICOR™ Android-based thermal imaging reporting application which provides immediate one click report generation.

TICOR™ is one of two new software packages developed by Thermal Imaging Ltd which cut thermal imaging engineers’ survey/reporting time by 25% by streamlining the data capture, input and analysis procedures associated with thermal imaging report generation and maintenance monitoring.

TICOR™ is believed to be the first Android-based thermal imaging reporting application which provides immediate one click report generation. Installing the software on an android tablet enables engineers to enter data from a thermal imaging camera directly into the tablet and produce instant diagnostic reports while they are still on site with just one click at the end of each TI survey.

The TICOR™ software can also be integrated into WEBCOR™ - Ti Thermal Imaging’s new online predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programme – and, again with just one click, the data captured on TICOR™ can be uploaded onto WEBCOR™ to provide data comparison and tracking of any changes to give early indication of potential issues or problem areas.

Both software programmes are compatible with any thermal imaging cameras that produce images in various formats as well as the recently-launched Seek Thermal camera attachment for mobile phones.   They provide a particularly efficient solution for monitoring and managing thermal imaging information for multi-site operations.

The software packages are the brainchild  of Richard Wallace,  Managing Director of Ti Thermal Imaging which has over 12 years’ thermographic surveying experience, and were born out of his frustration at the length of time engineers have to spend manually copying data to produce a report after a site visit.

Wallace says:  “Engineers currently spend around an hour for each three hours of surveying, manually transferring data from TI cameras and cross-referencing and matching it with the images, and I thought there had to be a more efficient way of producing reports.  We looked at what was available on the market and none of the software we found did what we wanted it to do.  We’ve worked with a software specialist to create the TICOR™ and WEBCOR™ programmes so that engineers aren’t spending another two hours producing reports at the end of a six hour survey.”

Wallace adds:  “With thermal imaging now being so widely used across a wide platform of industries from oil, gas, water to construction, manufacturing and retail, there are so many applications where TICOR™ and WEBCOR™ will provide engineers with a cost-effective, time-efficient method of capturing and reporting data instantly and on an on-going basis.”

Technical note: Some user specifications may request flame proof heaters or intrinsically safe heaters. These terms relate to specific technical standards applied to types of electrical equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres. The standard used for the Inteliheat drum heater and tote heater is IEC 60079:7 which is defined as "increased safety". The flameproof and instrinsic safety standards are alternate parts of the same IEC standard. All products in all these categories conform to the general standard IEC 60079:0 which forms the basis for the International standards used in IECEx testing around the world.

Flexible heating jackets for standard industrial areas:

If your application or project does not require certification for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, then we also design and manufacture an extensive range of standard and custom sized heating jackets.

Commonly used sizes are available in stock from our substantial inventory, in a variety of power ratings to suit most temperature and product requirements. The most popular sizes are for 25 litre / 6 gallon, 50 litre / 12 gallon, 100 litre / 25 gallon, 210 litre / 55 gallon, and pressurised gas bottles containers.

If you have a custom size, then email our sales team with a photograph of the container, all dimensions, temperature requirements, and details of the material being heated and we will recommend an appropriate solution.

Intrinsically Safe Interface Solutions for E2S Sounders and Beacons

pass-may-1E2S has published a complete guide for easy specification and installation for their range of intrinsically safe sounders, beacons and combination devices. The guide is based on the ATEX certification but in general, the guidelines apply to other intrinsic safety standards including NEC and IECEx.

Focusing on interface selection, the guide offers advice regarding the advantages and disadvantages of Zener barriers and isolation interfaces and provides the general entity parameters for E2S intrinsically safe products. Typical system diagrams detail how efficiently to employ different types of Zener barriers or isolators to control combination audio-visual signals and multiple alarm stages.

Intrinsically safe measurement avoids blasts

pass-may-2014-5Test instruments need to be explosion proof for machinery and process applications in hazardous areas

Test instruments is one of the most common types of intrinsically safe equipment used, primarily due to the fact that testing needs to be carried out regularly on machinery and other applications inside explosion-risk environments, explains Barry Atkins, managing director of independent test equipment expert PASS.

Wikipedia's article on Intrinsic Safety reveals that a measuring instrument certified for use in a hazardous area will be designed to operate with low voltage and current, and will be designed without large capacitors or inductors that could discharge in a spark.

There is a plethora of intrinsically safe instruments available to engineers working in hazardous areas, including gas leak detectors, laser distance meters, true RMS digital multimeters, infrared thermometers, thickness gauges, and conventional and thermal imaging cameras, as well as standard, pressure and loop calibrators.
