SICK’s ‘Sceptre’ Crowns Safety System King of the Active/Passives

With the innovation of its Sceptre high-performance prism optic reflector, SICK has extended the range of its deTem 4 A/P multiple light beam system to eight metres, the longest ever available for an active/passive safety device, suitable for applications up to SIL3 / PLe.

The extra-rugged and compact SICK deTem 4 A/P safety light beam system offers wide flexibility to install safe access protection with entry/exit monitoring (muting) in production and logistics environments. With sender and receiver integrated into the active device, SICK deTem 4 A/P minimises wiring and helps achieve compact machine designs. With integrated muting functions there is no need for an external module and additional wiring effort.

Water jetting training goes up a level

The first competency qualification for water jetting has been launched in a move the Water Jetting Association describes as a game changer.

The new Level 2 Water Jetting Technician Certificate is accredited by the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE) and regulated by Ofqual.

It has been created by the Water Jetting Association (WJA), the member organisation for the UK water jetting industry, to support the upskilling of operatives, improving productivity and safety.

John Jones, Vice-President of the WJA and chairman of its Training and Safety Committee, said: “Our new level 2 qualification automatically qualifies the holder for a CSCS card.

Let Hi-Kleen Do The Dirty Work

With the UK continuing its battle against COVID-19, businesses everywhere are facing the unenviable task of ensuring virus-free workplaces for staff and customers alike.

For this reason, HI-KLEEN from Hi-line Industries has been proving exceptionally popular since its introduction in the summer of 2020. To help even more companies benefit from this highly effective surface sanitiser for commercial premises, Hi-line has produced a short but highly informative YouTube video (https://youtu.be/7cQlavJ51S4) that demonstrates the product’s easy application.

Rugged & Reliable

The maritime environment requires hardware to be deployed and remain operational for long periods of time, without the ability to service units regularly. GRiD manufacture fully-sealed, Rugged Laptops, Tablets and Servers for use both Above and Below Decks on Submarines, Surface Ships and RIBs. Qualified to DEF STAN 59-411 and MIL-STD-461 for EMC and DEF STAN 00-35 and MIL-STD-461 for Environmental, our product range is resistant to Salt Fog whilst fully Sunlight readable in bright light.

As GRiD are the OEM for the entire product range, they have full configuration control down to component level.  All internal electronics are designed in-house meaning that they are not reliant on the commercial market for components, mitigating issues associated with obsolescence and allowing the supply and support of products for years after they are purchased.
