Rugged & Reliable

The maritime environment requires hardware to be deployed and remain operational for long periods of time, without the ability to service units regularly. GRiD manufacture fully-sealed, Rugged Laptops, Tablets and Servers for use both Above and Below Decks on Submarines, Surface Ships and RIBs. Qualified to DEF STAN 59-411 and MIL-STD-461 for EMC and DEF STAN 00-35 and MIL-STD-461 for Environmental, our product range is resistant to Salt Fog whilst fully Sunlight readable in bright light.

As GRiD are the OEM for the entire product range, they have full configuration control down to component level.  All internal electronics are designed in-house meaning that they are not reliant on the commercial market for components, mitigating issues associated with obsolescence and allowing the supply and support of products for years after they are purchased.

Good governance and clear and concise management are two things that are at the heart of GRiD’s operational strategy. Continually improving this over the last 27 years to  keep providing customers with the most rugged laptops and tablets.

For the last 20 years, GRiD has remained compliant with ISO 9001, and proudly announce that following a recent audit, they have now re-certified with the ISO Organisation with no non-conformities and no minor non-conformities being found, showing a clear commitment to delivering quality products to customers.

The ISO 9001 certification is a well-known standard that ensures a company’s ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Predominantly, a high level of motivation and implication from top level management, an approach that is process driven and centred around the ideals of continuous improvement and a strong focus to provide the customer with the best product and experience possible.

Following the latest audit, the auditor, NQA, had this to say of GRiD and the management team:

“The context of the organization is well defined; leadership has been effectively demonstrated and commitment levels are evident.

This is reflected in the levels of compliance with requirements and operational controls evident at the organization during the audit process. There are effective links between the company’s policy for quality, the objectives set and the processes used to provide conforming products to its customers and their end users.

As sampled today, documented information was available during the audit to confirm that the QMS is well implemented and conformity to customer and end user requirement confirmed. There are effective controls in place to ensure that these requirements are translated accurately to those assembling and testing the company’s range of rugged computers. Traceability within the system elements viewed is excellent. Discrete elements of the QMS work well together.”
