Unique features and Enhanced Safety with Wieland's Emergency Stop Pushbuttons

The SNH Series from Wieland Electric is a modular system that can be perfectly adapted to the needs of the machinery manufacturer, with a range of eight operator elements that can be combined with 12 different contact blocks. In addition to the modular components, Wieland supply a number of completely assembled emergency stop pushbuttons for the most common applications.

For increased safety, Wieland's SNH Series of Emergency Stop Pushbuttons incorporate a unique contact block drop-off feature offering a signal output should failure occur if the contact block becomes dislodged due to vibration. This has an additional NO contact in series (pre-installed) to the main contacts, the NO contact opening as soon as the contact block falls off, thus interrupting the safety circuit and putting the machine into a safe position. An illuminated Stop Button also provides enhanced safety for the machine user.

Buncefield Explosion

Video showing how GexCon applied the CFD tool FLACS and performed experiments to help understand the Buncefield tank farm explosion in 2005.
The work performed by GexCon clearly shows that the trees surrounding the tankfarm played a major role in causing the high explosion overpressures that destroyed a majority of the tankfarm site and neighbouring buildnings.

Wellman Robey “Combination” Boilers find favour in C.H.P

Wellman Robey “Combination” Boilers have become an integral part of two Combined Heat and Power installations for the N.H.S Foundation Trust.
The principle of the “Combination” Boiler is to take the  exhaust gases from the C.H.P electricity generator engine and use the heat from it to raise steam or hot water. A completely independent section within the boiler (with it’s own furnace and oil or gas fired burner) guarantees that the unit will be able to provide its required output at all times regardless of the supply of waste gases available by firing the boiler in the conventional way as well as (or instead of) using the waste heat recovery section.

The two N.H.S Trust Foundations that have recently taken delivery of the Wellman Robey Combination Boilers are Countess of Chester and Aintree University (Liverpool) hospitals.

Countess of Chester has 580 beds on a single site and provides a range of medical services for over 400,000 patients a year for Western Cheshire, the Wirral and North Wales. The Robey- Loos boiler supplied is a UL-S IE Composite Boiler designed for an output of 3945kg/hr at 5barG that will provide steam and hot-water for the total requirement of the hospital complex.

Kittiwake increase range of main engine monitoring solutions

These two new offerings along with many of our other solutions including LinerSCAN help you extend engine life, increases efficiency, and reduces emissions to assist with environmental compliance.

The DieselSCOPE performance analyser is designed by marine engineers for marine engineers.  The portable, handheld unit helps you monitors the combustion process in the diesel engine in real time allowing you to tune the engine whilst measuring. Using DieselSCOPE you can balance cylinder load, optimize injection timing and detect worn or damaged engine components and thus reduce the engine’s operating cost.

Grease Thief enhances the ANALEXfdMplus

Oil analysis is a well established practice in predictive maintenance. Lubricant analysis is often paired with other technologies such as infrared thermography, vibration analysis and ultrasound techniques. These technologies are very useful in detecting problems in machinery before costly failures and down time occur.

Energyst Oil & Gas Depot Egersund, Norway

At the beginning of September 2008 we were approached by two companies regarding the rental of an O&G unit for a small platform in the North Sea called Varg A. The generator was to run the Fire Pump onboard for any emergency situations, so it is basically a standby unit. We offered a budget rate for renting one of our new Oil & Gas units.

After several discussions and clarifications Teekay Norway took over the project at the beginning of 2009, and the ball really started rolling. We not only had to place our Oil & Gas unit on the platform, it also needed some modifications. Together with our Technical Manager, Kjell Olsen Oen, Teekay decided that they needed some very special arrangements onboard the platform. This meant that we had to rebuild certain parts of the unit, and also install an extra long piping construction for the air intake and also for removal of the exhaust gases. See pictures. The container also needed overpressure, because of the danger of gas.

Working under high voltage

Even on a rough sea, a crane has to be able to lower loads of up to 120 tons into the water, accurate to the tenth of a metre

She was ready earlier this year: the Seven Atlantic, an ultra modern support vessel for divers in the North Sea. Responsible for the electrical wiring is Croon-Bakker Sliedrecht, who during the test phase could rely on the services of Energyst CAT ® Rental Power.

The recent delivery of the Seven Atlantic Subsea 7 to its owner meant the next step in a truly epic project for IHC Merwede Shipyard in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. In a relatively short time the company has produced two so-called pipe laying vessels – the Seven Oceans and the Seven Seas - and has completed project number three with the transfer of the Seven Atlantic. They are currently already working on the fourth ship, which as of yet remains nameless. Starting this year, the ships will perform their duties in the deep oil fields in the North Sea.
