FibreGrid Helps Make Tilbury Docks A Safer Place

jan-14-26FibreGrid Helps Make Tilbury Docks A Safer Place

In the winter, FibreGrid’s FibreRail handrails really come into their own, as they are ‘not cold to touch’ which not only encourages people to use them, but keeps you abreast of Building Regulations and the Disability Discrimination Act.

The ‘not cold to touch’ is particularly pertinent when it came to the installation of FibreRail that we carried out for Tilbury Docks. In this weather as you can imagine, the wind fairly whips off the River Thames and nobody would want (Read More)  to grip an icy metal handrail.

Our handrails are a genuine case of the iron fist inside the velvet glove as the rails have a tough metal core, but are coated with PVC which isn’t cold to the touch.
Safety is of paramount importance to the owners of the docks, which is why they entrusted FibreGrid with the installation of 50 linear metres of handrail around various outbuildings at key locations. The facility is used in all weathers, 24/7, so handrails are necessary to offer extra protection on ramped and stepped access against possible slips and trips in high risk areas.

Our handrails are available in grey or yellow, but in this case the customer chose to ‘mix ‘n’ match’ using grey for the uprights and mid-rails, with the top rails and fittings in yellow for maximum visibility. Our highly skilled installation team fitted these in only four days.

FibreRail should be used in factories, outside offices, schools, housing estates, hospitals and more – wherever people need to get a grip!
