Airchannel ensures compressor users pass written exam

http://www.hazeng.co.uk/images/stories/rhs_banners/Airchannel%20PR1.jpgTo ensure customers can immediately comply with current regulations, Airchannel, the UK’s leading independent compressed air specialist, is providing an integrated Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) as part of its complete service.

On installation of a new compressed air system or new equipment being added to an existing installation, users are required to have a WSE in accordance with Regulation 8 of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations, SI 2000 No. 128, before the system can be legally operated.

The regulation applies to systems containing a single pressure vessel over 250 bar litres (this is the maximum operational pressure multiplied by the volume of the air receiver) and any associated pipework and protection devices.
As part of its installation service, Airchannel’s experienced team of engineers will survey the system to establish a safe working limit as well as set examination intervals to ensure continued compliance is maintained.

Being able to offer the WSE allows Airchannel to provide a one-stop solution for compressed air requirements, eliminating the need for users to employ a third party.

The WSE is an important legal requirement, which will secure the safety of employees from the uncontrolled release of stored pressure energy.
Meanwhile, frequent user checks, together with correct and timely preventive maintenance, will enhance the life of the system, and by making sure it is operating at the correct fluid levels, it will also prove more energy efficient and cost effective in the long term.
Airchannel’s national sales manager, Andrew Barraclough, comments: “As the British Compressed Air Society’s Trusted Trader of the Year, we are constantly seeking to improve our services to meet the needs of our customers.
“This new service means we can provide a complete installation solution and use our industry expertise to ensure customers are operating equipment safely, efficiently and comply with the appropriate regulations.”
