ProGARM introduces new Arc Flash protective hoodie following growing demand

ProGARM, the UK’s leading Arc Flash protection specialist, has developed a new Arc Flash protective hoodie, following demand from its clients.

The new hoodie features a warm neck design, making it ideal for working outside, as well as a drawstring hood. The garment also includes inner fleece lining for additional warmth, a ribbed waistband and cuffs to ensure a great fit, as well as front pockets.

The warmth provided by the inner fleece lining and neck designs is crucial to the design to prevent wearers from being tempted to layer up with non-Arc Flash protective clothing beneath the protective hoodie. Everyday materials can melt into an operative’s skin or even compromise the protection given by any Arc Flash garment when worn underneath their PPE, should an Arc Flash incident occur.

The hoodie has a 13.2cal/cm2 rating, and when combined with ProGARM’s 5280 polo shirt delivers results of Class 2 and 31.0cal/cm2 protection for operatives.

Based in East Yorkshire, ProGARM is among the first to launch such product in the UK market.

Mark Lant, technical sales manager at ProGARM, said: “This new hoodie is a really exciting addition to our range – it’s a real game changer for Arc Flash PPE. There are very few Arc Flash hoodies available on the UK market, and none that include this combination of comfort, warmth, and protection.

“We’ve heard from some of our clients that other Arc Flash hoodies available on the market have been uncomfortable for wearers, so they were keen for us to design our own hoodie using our VXS+ fabric, which has a natural feel and is soft as well as being breathable.

“The hoodie has been really well received by our clients and we’ve had some great feedback with testers in a wearer trial rating it 9.2 out of 10. With feedback like that we knew we had to add it to our permanent product range.”
