Using wind speed is only an indicator, says Mr Hart, and does not reliably indicate what will happen in the real world. The force transmitted at a given wind velocity is not a reliable measure of the resultant pressure upon a door and of how it will affect the door as the density of air varies, the topography, height above sea level and adjacent structures can all hugely vary the force applied to a given door.
